Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki and her husband, retired NBA player David Lee, are expecting their third child. The announcement was made on Sunday via social media.
Wozniacki shared a photo on the beach with David Lee and their two children, humorously referencing her husband`s basketball career by saying they are “officially switching to zone defense!” She joked about being outnumbered by their kids soon. Fellow athletes like Karolina Pliskova, Eugenie Bouchard, and Angelique Kerber have sent their congratulations.
The couple already has a daughter, Olivia, 3, and a son, James, 2. Both children were born during Wozniacki`s break from professional tennis. Wozniacki, who won the 2018 Australian Open, initially retired in 2020 but returned to the sport in 2023.
Wozniacki has stated that she returned to tennis to pursue further goals and to be a role model for her children, demonstrating that it`s possible to follow your dreams at any age.
Since her return to tennis, Wozniacki has achieved notable results, including reaching the fourth round of the US Open twice and the quarterfinals at Indian Wells. She also competed in the Paris Olympics and re-entered the WTA Top 100 rankings.
Even without playing this year, Wozniacki remained involved in tennis as a commentator at the Australian Open, where she also participated in the trophy presentation on the tournament`s first day.
