Tony Ferguson and Dillon Danis have both stated that they are still planning to fight each other in the near future.
The former interim UFC lightweight champion and Conor McGregor`s teammate were originally scheduled to headline Global Fight League`s launch weekend in May.
Tony Ferguson was aiming to end his run of eight losses in the UFC with a victory.
Dillon Danis was looking to improve his MMA record to 3-0 in his first fight since 2019.

Is the Tony Ferguson vs Dillon Danis Fight Cancelled?
On Wednesday, GFL announced the cancellation of their first two events, scheduled for May 24th and 25th.
Paige Vanzant, Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, and other former UFC stars were also set to compete at these inaugural GFL events.
However, Ferguson and Danis suggest they are still likely to face off under the new league.
Danis initially expressed frustration about the event cancellation, especially after a previous fight with KSI fell through.
“Bro, I just wanna f—— fight. wtf,” he posted on social media.
But, two hours later, Danis updated his fans, saying: “Just got word, don’t believe everything you hear. My fight with Tony Ferguson is still on.”
Ferguson echoed this sentiment on his Instagram story after a training session.
“Great practice. F—— bet it’s on. Dillon gon’ get it,” Ferguson wrote.
GFL President Comments
GFL founder Darren Owen stated on Wednesday that this setback is not the end for his MMA organization.
