PFL is expanding its global presence with the announcement of a new regional league, PFL Pacific, set to launch in Australia and New Zealand.
This new tournament follows the successful launches of PFL Europe and PFL Middle East & North Africa (MENA). PFL is also preparing to launch PFL Africa this summer, featuring the return of fighter Dakota Ditcheva.
Following the African launch, attention will shift to the Australian tournament. This league aims to showcase rising stars from a region known for producing champions such as Israel Adesanya, Rob Wilkinson, and recent standout Jack Della Maddalena.
PFL Pacific Scheduled to Launch in 2026
PFL has consistently sought to expand its unique tournament format globally through regional leagues. After introducing PFL Europe in 2023 (with a second season in 2024) and the first PFL MENA event, the focus is now on other regions.
The upcoming PFL Africa league, led by legendary heavyweight Francis Ngannou, is set to begin in Cape Town on July 26th. It is now confirmed that PFL`s expansion will continue in 2026 with the launch of PFL Pacific in Australia and New Zealand.
This initiative is supported by a significant media partnership with Nine in Australia, ensuring broad coverage via Stan Sport, 9Now, and the 9Network. The tournament structure will feature four events with competitors from the region participating in a knockout format throughout 2026.
PFL CEO Peter Murray Comments on PFL Pacific Launch
PFL CEO Peter Murray stated that bringing PFL`s world-class MMA and top fighters to Australia and the Pacific region has been a key objective.
He highlighted the partnership with Stan, along with coverage on 9Now and the free-to-air 9Network, as instrumental in making MMA more accessible to Australian fans than ever before.
Murray added that PFL Pacific`s launch will lay the groundwork for long-term growth, with an ambition to produce more Australian champions than any other MMA promotion in the coming three years.
