Recent WTA 125 tournaments saw notable victories, with Naomi Osaka securing a title in France after receiving a wild card, and Dalma Galfi and Bianca Andreescu triumphing in Spain.

Here is a recap of the action from the clay-court WTA 125 events:

Wild Card Osaka Captures Saint Malo Title

Former World No. 1 Naomi Osaka of Japan claimed her first WTA 125 career title at L`Open 35 de Saint Malo in France on Sunday. She defeated Slovenia`s Kaja Juvan with a score of 6-1, 7-5 in the final.

Osaka is a significant champion with four Grand Slam titles and three additional titles on the Hologic WTA Tour. However, she had not won a singles title at any level since the 2021 Australian Open.

That changed this week after Osaka entered the event as the No. 2 seed on a wild card. While she dropped a set against French players Diane Parry and Leolia Jeanjean, her overall path through the draw was smooth.

Interestingly, this wasn`t Osaka`s first WTA 125 final; she was a runner-up at WTA 125 Hua Hin back in 2015, nearly a decade ago.

A notable mention goes to Kaja Juvan, a former Top 100 player who returned to the tour in January after a 12-month break and has already reached a WTA 125 final.

The Saint Malo doubles title was won by the top-seeded team of Maia Lumsden and Makoto Ninomiya. They overcame No. 2 seeds Oksana Kalashnikova and Angelica Moratelli 7-5, 6-2 in Saturday`s final.

Galfi Claims Vic Title, Extends Winning Streak to 10

Hungary`s Dalma Galfi secured her second WTA 125 title, following her victory in Oeiras last month. She had never won a title at this level before Oeiras.

On Saturday, Galfi delivered a dominant performance, sweeping past Rebeka Masarova of Switzerland 6-3, 6-0 to win the Catalonia Open title in Vic, Spain. This victory extended Galfi`s winning streak to 10 consecutive matches.

It was a week of complete control for the surging Galfi. She did not drop more than four games in any single set throughout her successful run in Vic.

Galfi, who was the World No. 1 junior player ten years ago, is arguably in the best form of her professional career right now. Just three weeks ago, she was ranked No. 149, but with this win, she is projected to re-enter the Top 100 in the upcoming PIF WTA Rankings update.

Another Grand Slam champion also found success in Spain. 2019 US Open winner Bianca Andreescu partnered with Aldila Sutjiadi to claim the Vic doubles title.

Andreescu and Sutjiadi defeated the team of Lulu Sun and fellow Grand Slam finalist Leylah Fernandez 6-2, 6-4 in the Catalonia Open doubles final on Friday.
