Liverpool fans were thrilled to hear that Mohamed Salah has officially signed a new two-year contract with the club. His previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2025, but recent reports of a contract extension proved to be accurate. This news follows a similar pattern to Virgil van Dijk, who is also expected to sign a new deal soon.

  • Salah says: `I`m very happy to stay with Liverpool. We have a fantastic team, and I believe we can win more trophies together. I`ve had some of my best years here and look forward to continuing my career at Anfield. To the fans, thank you for your support. We`ll do our best to bring more success to the club.`

Salah is recognized as one of the world`s top footballers and ranks third on Liverpool`s all-time scoring chart with 243 goals in 394 games. During his time at Liverpool, he has achieved numerous accolades, including three Premier League Golden Boots, two PFA Players` Player of the Year awards, and two FWA Footballer of the Year awards. He has also won seven trophies with Liverpool, highlighted by the Premier League title in 2019-20 and the UEFA Champions League in 2019. Liverpool are currently in contention for another Premier League title. Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 for approximately $40 million.

Manchester United and Tottenham Disappoint in Europa League

Manchester United and Tottenham both had disappointing Europa League matches, drawing their respective first-leg quarterfinal games on Thursday. Manchester United drew 2-2 away against Lyon, while Tottenham drew 1-1 at home against Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams will need to win their second-leg matches away from home to advance in the tournament.

Manchester United initially conceded a goal to Thiago Almada but quickly equalized through Leny Yoro. Despite Joshua Zirkzee giving Lyon a late lead in the 88th minute, Rayan Cherki scored in stoppage time, capitalizing on a mistake by Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana, to secure a 2-2 draw. Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim defended Onana`s performance:

  • Amorim: `Over the season, I have probably made more mistakes than the players. It`s part of football, and mistakes happen.`

Tottenham`s struggles continued as they drew at home after conceding an early goal to Eintracht Frankfurt`s Hugo Ekitike. Pedro Porro equalized for Tottenham, resulting in a 1-1 draw. The second leg, scheduled for April 17, could be crucial for Tottenham manager Ange Postecglou`s future at the club.

  • Postecglou: `The result is frustrating. I felt our performance was very good overall. Conceding early was disappointing, but we responded well, hit the woodwork several times, and on another day, we would have won.`
