MMA Stars Breach Cage in Post-Fight Melee After Showboating Escalates

MMA news

In the world of MMA, celebrations after a fight can range from subtle to extravagant. However, what happened recently went beyond the usual.

We`ve witnessed countless MMA fighters showcase their personalities after victories. Remember Israel Adesanya`s controversial act during a UFC title fight, or Michael Chandler`s impressive backflips following a knockout of Tony Ferguson.

Max Holzer`s Post-Fight Celebration

Typically, winning fighters might cheer or celebrate on top of the cage, a natural release after intense training.

Max Holzer, however, an OKTAGON fighter, took post-fight celebration to a completely new level.

Max Holzer Mimics Israel Adesanya`s Infamous Celebration

Holzer, an undefeated featherweight prospect from Germany, extended his record to 11-0 by defeating Deniz Ilbay via submission in the main event of OKTAGON 69 on Saturday. He secured a rear-naked choke against Ilbay, forcing a tap out in the fourth round.

Following his victory, Max Holzer proceeded to kiss his defeated opponent on the head.

But it didn`t stop there. Holzer then provocatively mimicked Israel Adesanya`s infamous pelvic thrust directed at Paulo Costa at UFC 253 in 2020, performing the same action towards Ilbay.

Still on the ground, a furious Ilbay reacted instantly, chasing Holzer and throwing strikes as they exited the cage.

Holzer ended up falling out of the cage as officials intervened to restrain Ilbay.

One fan commented on Holzer’s celebration, comparing it to the chaotic aftermath of McGregor vs. Khabib, referencing when Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped out of the Octagon to confront Dillon Danis after defeating Conor McGregor at UFC 229.

For context, here`s a reminder of Israel Adesanya`s original celebration.

Max Holzer`s Viral Antics Preceded the Celebration

Max Holzer is known for being a character inside and outside the cage.

Prior to his OKTAGON victory, Holzer made a memorable walkout, carried to the cage on the shoulders of someone dressed in an inflatable dinosaur costume.

A fan aptly stated about Holzer`s performance and persona, “I knew he would deliver.”

In another memorable instance last year, Holzer entered the arena to the tune of ‘You’ve Got A Friend In Me’ while dressed as Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story. He then went on to win by choke in that fight.
