During a fight in UFC legend Anthony Pettis` APFC promotion, one fighter performed an incredibly unusual move in the MMA cage, witnessed by Dustin Poirier.
Anthony Pettis was known for his spectacular and unconventional techniques in the UFC, with his `Showtime kick` being a legendary moment in MMA history.
Since retiring from UFC and active competition, Pettis has launched his own MMA promotion, Anthony Pettis FC.
APFC promotes itself as the fastest-growing MMA organization in the USA, broadcasting all its events live on UFC Fight Pass.
MMA Fighter Imitates The Rock’s Signature Move at APFC Event
APFC 16 took place on Sunday in Milwaukee, featuring several title fights and attended by UFC star Dustin Poirier.
However, the viral sensation of the night was an undercard fight where Miguel Sanson executed The Rock`s famous WWE move, The People’s Elbow.
While MMA has seen many strange moves, this might be the first time a fighter has used a well-known WWE finisher.
Shortly after `The People’s Elbow,` Swanson dominated his opponent, Chris Johnson, picking him up and slamming him headfirst in another WWE-esque maneuver.
The aftermath was concerning as Johnson required oxygen and was carried out of the cage on a stretcher after being unresponsive on the ground for some time.
Following the fight, Johnson accused Sanson on social media of repeated fouls, stating, “Kicked me in the nuts, illegal head spike at the end, illegal headbutt, elbow to the back of my head. But you did a great job wrestling. Good work.”
Dustin Poirier Experienced Similar Move After UFC KO Loss
After Poirier`s brutal knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291 for the BMF title, referee Herb Dean jokingly hit Poirier with The Rock’s signature move.
‘The Diamond’s’ presence at APFC 16 occurs during a break in his career. Following his defeat to Islam Makhachev at UFC 302, Poirier announced his intention to retire after his next fight.
Despite no fight officially scheduled, rumors persist about a potential trilogy fight with current BMF champion Max Holloway.
