The US Women`s National Team currently has some missing star players from their Olympic gold medal victory. However, retired soccer star Megan Rapinoe thinks this time of change is a good follow-up to their success last summer.
For this month`s friendly games against Brazil, USWNT coach Emma Hayes will only have 10 players from the Olympic team. This includes just one of the `triple espresso` players – Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Wilson – who scored 10 goals at the Paris Olympics. Rapinoe believes the Olympics created a strong base for Hayes, who can now focus on developing new players as they prepare for the 2027 Women`s World Cup.
`We saw their gold medal win last summer,` Rapinoe said in an interview with CBS Sports Golazo Network`s Morning Footy, with Sue Bird. `Emma took charge quickly and managed the team. We know how good `triple espresso` is, but with some players out, we`re seeing great depth. Lily Yohannes and Ally Sentnor debuted and played very well. I like that we keep scoring goals.`
