Sachsenring, Germany – The undisputed master of the Sachsenring, Marc Marquez, delivered a commanding performance today, winning the MotoGP German Grand Prix in dominant fashion. The Spaniard led all 30 laps of the race, securing his twelfth victory across all classes at this unique circuit. His brother, Alex Marquez, finished a strong second, making it a family 1-2, while Francesco Bagnaia completed the podium in third.
A Solitary Ride to Victory
Under slightly cloudy and windy conditions, Marquez wasted no time, immediately seizing the lead at the start. He was initially challenged by Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio, who engaged in an early battle behind him. However, Marquez quickly demonstrated his superior pace, building a lead that neared two seconds within the first eight laps. Seeing his advantage briefly decrease around lap 10, the championship leader responded by upping his pace once more. This decisive push solidified his position and paved the way for his seventh Sprint-race double win of the 2025 season, a testament to his current form and the synergy with his Ducati machine.
Attrition Takes Its Toll: A Race of Crashes
While Marquez enjoyed a relatively untroubled ride at the front, the fight behind was significantly impacted by a high rate of attrition. Only 10 riders managed to finish the race, with numerous crashes punctuating the 30 laps. Early podium contender Pedro Acosta was an unfortunate casualty, crashing out from fifth place after just four laps. The battle for second place also saw dramatic incidents, with both Di Giannantonio and Bezzecchi falling at Turn 1 while attempting to hold their positions. Di Giannantonio crashed on lap 13, and Bezzecchi, now on an Aprilia, followed suit eight laps later. These incidents significantly reshaped the podium positions.
Brothers on the Box, Bagnaia Salvages Points
Alex Marquez capitalized on the misfortune of others to claim a well-deserved second place. This result is particularly noteworthy considering he has been recovering from a recent injury, demonstrating resilience and solid racecraft. Francesco Bagnaia, meanwhile, faced a reportedly complicated weekend leading up to the race. However, the reigning champion managed to convert his challenges into valuable points with a third-place finish, a result that helps mitigate the damage in the championship standings.
Championship Picture: Marquez Extends Dominance
Marc Marquez`s seventh victory in eleven rounds of the 2025 season further solidifies his commanding lead in the MotoGP World Championship. He now holds a significant 83-point advantage over his brother Alex Marquez. Francesco Bagnaia faces a much larger deficit, trailing the leader by 147 points. With his consistent victories and the misfortune of his rivals, Marquez is building an imposing lead as the season progresses, making him the clear favorite for the title.
