MIAMI — In a captivating Saturday match at the Miami Open, rising American star Ashlyn Krueger delivered a standout performance, progressing further in the tournament alongside seasoned players.

Ashlyn Krueger defeated Leylah Fernandez with scores of 6-1, 7-5 to advance to the Round of 16. Her next opponent will be decided in the match between No. 9 seed Zheng Qinwen and qualifier Taylor Townsend.

The 20-year-old American player matched her best career result in a WTA 1000 tournament, a feat she previously achieved in Toronto last year. Krueger has now secured her seventh victory against Top 30 players this year, surpassing her total from all previous seasons. Only Madison Keys, Mirra Andreeva, and Iga Swiatek have recorded more such wins.

Krueger`s powerful strokes were once again evident in her match against Fernandez. She maintained a strong serve, preventing any breaks, and her total of 69 winners is only exceeded by McCartney Kessler (84) and Hailey Baptiste (78).
