Francis Ngannou, the former UFC heavyweight champion, has revealed that his next endeavor will be outside the realm of professional fighting.
Ngannou last competed in October, where he secured a swift first-round knockout victory against Renan Ferreira in his PFL debut.
Following this win, speculation arose about his return to boxing, especially after his previous experiences against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.
However, Ngannou`s newly announced `project` indicates a temporary shift in focus away from combat sports.
Francis Ngannou Takes on Construction Role in Homeland
Recently, Ngannou shared on social media that he has undertaken a new project in his native Cameroon.
While details remain scarce, he described it as `a masterpiece and very personal,` emphasizing his direct involvement.
Ngannou`s announcement included images of him engaged in construction work, suggesting a hands-on role in the project.
“My next project in Batié is a masterpiece and very personal, so I don’t just assign it to people,” Ngannou stated on Instagram. “I follow it closely, to the point of becoming an excavator operator.”
He encouraged followers to anticipate the project`s development.
Deontay Wilder Fight Still a Possibility
Despite this new project, the possibility of a fight between Ngannou and former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder remains in discussion.
Wilder has expressed interest in the matchup, and Ngannou seemed receptive earlier.
In a recent interview, Wilder provided an optimistic update, stating that negotiations are ongoing to finalize the details for a potential fight between him and Ngannou.
“Me and Francis, that fight, it still comes up. It came up two more times not too long ago,” Wilder mentioned.
“We’re just trying to figure out how we want the segment to go with me and Ngannou.”
“I’m definitely interested, he is as well. I guess it’s just a matter of time.”
“It’s looking to be done, but it’s just all of the details and stuff like that.”
“I’m looking forward to that one, so stay tuned.”
