Fighter who was attacked by Sean Strickland during viral Tuff-N-Uff brawl explains his side of story

Sean Strickland continues to attract media attention, often for controversial reasons.

The former UFC middleweight champion has been inactive in competition since his title rematch loss against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 312 earlier this year.

During this break from fighting, while he plans his next career move, other fighters like Israel Adesanya have publicly challenged him.

However, this past Sunday, Strickland was once again prominently featured in headlines for negative reasons following an incident at a local Tuff-N-Uff show held in Las Vegas.

Strickland Involved in Post-Fight Confrontation

The Tuff-N-Uff 145 event featured Strickland’s teammate, Miles Hunsinger, competing against Luis Hernandez in a middleweight bout on the undercard.

The first round saw competitive action from both fighters. However, in the second round, tensions rose when Hernandez engaged in verbal exchanges with Hunsinger’s corner during the fight, including directing comments at Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis.

Approximately one minute into the round, Hernandez secured a standing guillotine choke, leading to the finish of the fight. As he celebrated his victory, Hernandez made an offensive gesture towards Strickland and Curtis.

Immediately after, both UFC middleweights entered the cage to confront Hernandez. Strickland quickly moved towards him and landed several punches before being restrained and pulled away.

Strickland later commented on the incident via social media, stating that Hernandez had used derogatory language towards him and provoked the altercation.

Luis Hernandez Provides His Account After Viral Incident

While the former UFC middleweight champion offered his perspective on the post-fight scuffle, Luis Hernandez shared his version of events a few hours following the incident.

Speaking with Ariel Helwani, Hernandez stated, “We were in the fight, and they were talking from the corner, and there`s only so much you can endure. This is entertainment, right? So he said some things, and I responded, and I guess he didn`t appreciate what I said back.”

Hernandez elaborated on the verbal exchange: “He was talking trash, saying I was tired, making fun of me. I think he called me fat, and I don`t take that lightly. I told him, `F— you Sean Strickland,` and then he punched me. He did, but I`m still standing and smiling… Hopefully, I`ll be in the UFC soon.”

It remains uncertain what disciplinary action, if any, Strickland might face for his conduct. However, there is speculation that the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) could potentially issue him a ban from cornering future events.
