Former World`s Strongest Man, Eddie Hall, experienced a stark reality of MMA training when he was violently knocked to the ground by a powerful head kick striking his chin.
Hall, renowned for his 2017 World`s Strongest Man title and even surpassing Alex Pereira`s record for the world`s hardest punch, is undeniably a formidable figure.
However, translating immense strength into effective mixed martial arts skills is a process requiring significant dedication and time, a fact highlighted during a demanding sparring session.
In a dramatic moment, the strongman found himself on the canvas, needing to compose himself and get back on his feet.
Eddie Hall Knocked Down by Head Kick in Training
Eddie Hall`s initial plan was to debut in MMA on February 17, 2024, against Mitchell Hooper, but this matchup ultimately did not occur. Despite the change in opponent or timing, Hall continued to invest significant time in the gym, committed to honing his burgeoning combat sports abilities.
During this training period, he shared footage on his YouTube channel, showcasing a sparring session against a tall Russian fighter known for dangerous strikes.
In his commentary accompanying the video, Hall mentioned his cautious approach, stating he aimed to assess his opponent initially rather than launch an immediate attack. He then humorously forewarned viewers they were about to see him take “a nice little kick to the face.”
True to his prediction, his sparring partner landed a devastating left high kick squarely on Hall`s head, sending him stumbling and falling towards the canvas.
Reacting immediately but assuring onlookers he was okay, Hall exclaimed about the quality of the strike and playfully bemoaned not anticipating that particular kick.
Hall eventually made his mixed martial arts debut later that year, participating in a unique two-on-one bout against the Neffati Brothers, where he secured a brutal finish over both opponents.
Looking ahead, Hall faces a significantly tougher test at KSW 105 when he steps into the cage against five-time World`s Strongest Man winner, Mariusz Pudzianowski.
Rico Verhoeven Also Dropped Hall With a Powerful Kick
The tall Russian fighter wasn`t the only elite striker to test Hall`s chin. Ahead of his rematch with Levi Rigters, kickboxing superstar Rico Verhoeven invited the English strongman to his training camp to provide insight into what it takes to become a Glory champion.
During his visit, Verhoeven took Hall through his rigorous daily training regimen.
The session escalated in intensity, culminating in Verhoeven landing a powerful kick that resulted in Hall being dropped once more.
