EA Sports F1 25 Preview: Significant Updates to My Team Mode

F1 news

F1 25, the latest high-speed racing simulation from EA Sports, is being developed to provide a refined and realistic racing experience that hardcore F1 enthusiasts desire. We visited Codemasters in Birmingham, UK, to explore the advancements and new features being implemented in F1 25.

My Team mode, the management aspect of the series, has undergone some of the most substantial changes. Previously, players could act as both a driver and team owner, with most opting to race as themselves. Now, you will focus solely on team ownership, requiring more strategic resource allocation between your two managed drivers. You will still participate in races as the driver you choose, utilizing skills developed through training simulations and other methods.

`We recognize that the owner-driver concept is not true to the sport,` stated Gavin Cooper, creative director for F1 25. `It doesn`t reflect modern F1 or any current team operations.`

Fans of F1 24 will recall accolades from Driver Career mode. These achievements are now integrated into My Team mode, influencing your Fan Rating and evolving into Team versus Team Rivalries. The game now features a more detailed system for how these ratings affect your team`s perception among other teams and drivers, adding a deeper layer of complexity to team management.

The Team HQ introduces off-track challenges to EA Sports F1 25.

The new Team HQ further complicates management, requiring you to balance upgrade costs with on-track driver performance and budget constraints. Rapid upgrades can lead to unsustainable workforce expenses. Team HQ upgrades are now more detailed, unlocking driver skills and enhancements. Your decisions regarding driver prioritization can also affect team perception and driver contract negotiations.

Off the track, F1 25`s management mechanics are more intricate and diverse, offering dedicated F1 fans greater control. The on-track racing experience has also been refined and enhanced.

`We`ve made significant progress based on feedback from F1 24, lessons learned from F1 23, community input, and collaborations with esports drivers and a creative council last year,` commented senior creative director Lee Mather. `This year, we`ve achieved a better car balance, particularly between low-speed mechanical grip and high-speed aerodynamic balance, which will significantly improve the racing experience.`
