Dillon Danis Hits Back at Tony Ferguson After UFC Legend Teases Fight Rescheduling

MMA news

Dillon Danis has issued a brief response to UFC veteran Tony Ferguson, following Ferguson`s suggestion that their previously canceled fight might still be on.

The two athletes were originally slated to main event the debut GFL event, set to take place in Los Angeles last weekend. However, the event was canceled more than a month beforehand, resulting in the cancellation of their bout as well.

This cancellation compounded what had already been a challenging few weeks for Danis. Shortly before the planned Ferguson fight, he was also scheduled to box YouTuber KSI, but that match was called off just days prior, with the British content creator citing illness.

Danis and Ferguson Exchange Remarks as Potential Rescheduling Discussed

After the cancellation of the initial GFL fight card, it seemed the planned showdown between Dillon Danis and Tony Ferguson was no longer happening. While somewhat unexpected, the matchup had generated significant fan buzz and was intended to headline the second night of the planned multi-day event.

However, Ferguson recently took to social media to stir interest, indicating that he still considers the fight a possibility. He posted on Instagram:

Ahhhh Yes, The Journey Is The Part You Remember Anyways. Ol’e Moose Knuckle Danis Still Gon’Get Demolished. I Know Kung Fooooooooooo. Ahhh Wah Wah Wahhh Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh Zaaaaaahhhh MF’as!!! Act Accordingly & Form Rank B—-es -Champ – CSO – #FightNewsSoon.

In response, Danis used his private Instagram account, “TheMadSamurai,” to share a message, telling his followers to communicate his intentions:

Let him know I’m gonna ankle pick his a—.

Danis`s Recent Inactivity and Frustration

A series of fight cancellations has been a significant source of frustration for Danis over the past few years. He was sidelined for three years by knee injuries after participating in only two fights under the Bellator banner. He eventually returned to competition in a boxing grudge match against Logan Paul in 2023.

He remained out of action throughout 2024 before committing to two fights scheduled less than two months apart this year. Despite these ongoing issues, he reportedly maintains a rigorous training schedule, sharing recent post-training photos on his Instagram story after sending his message to Ferguson.

Misfits Boxing promoter Mams Taylor has pledged to arrange another fight opportunity for Danis. Responding to a lengthy post from Danis detailing his cancellations, Taylor wrote:

You’ve sure had some bad luck. You`re fighting soon Danis.
