Following UFC 314, Conor McGregor immediately shifted his focus to the upcoming major MMA event.
The former UFC champion in two weight classes lost a $500,000 bet on Michael Chandler to deliver a brutal knockout against Paddy Pimblett. However, Pimblett turned the tables, dominating his opponent and securing a third-round TKO victory in Miami on Saturday night.
The next day, Conor McGregor seemingly disregarded UFC 314 and started to target the headliner of the next pay-per-view event.
Belal Muhammad, the welterweight champion, is scheduled to defend his title against Jack Della Maddalena as the main event of UFC 315. The event is set to take place on May 10 at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Conor McGregor Reminisces About Belal Muhammad’s Security Incident
Last December, at UFC 310, Shavkat Rakhmonov defeated Ian Garry, solidifying his position as a top contender in the 170lb division.
Muhammad, who was present at cageside, entered the Octagon to confront the undefeated 19-0 fighter.
However, security personnel initially prevented ‘Remember The Name’ from entering, as they did not recognize him.
McGregor found this situation amusing and shared a voice note on social media where he criticized Muhammad.
“Security doesn’t even know he’s the champ,” McGregor chuckled. “Can you believe this guy? Security doesn’t know he’s the champ? I`m not surprised, he is just… that guy.”
“Keep quiet, you little fool. You barely made it into the ring, they don’t even know you are the champ, you are so insignificant. ‘Who the heck is this guy?’ said security. Oh man, just a nobody.”
The voice note became viral at the time, and it has the potential to go viral again after McGregor reposted the clip on Sunday.
Belal Muhammad has not yet responded, but it is almost certain that he will retaliate to the insult from a legendary MMA figure like McGregor.
What’s Next for Conor McGregor?
McGregor has not competed since UFC 264 in July 2021, where he suffered a leg injury.
‘Notorious’ recently hinted at UFC retirement while mentioning he declined a comeback offer.
The MMA icon claimed his focus was on a political career after announcing a campaign for President of Ireland. However, since then, he has shown interest in fighting the winner of Michael Chandler versus Paddy Pimblett.
‘The Baddy’ stated he would be happy to welcome McGregor back to the sport after his victory over Chandler.
Only time will reveal whether McGregor will return to fighting or decide to end his remarkable career.
