Carlos Ulberg continued his impressive run, securing his eighth consecutive victory at UFC London.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz returned to the Octagon after a two-year absence at UFC London on Saturday, facing the rising contender Carlos Ulberg.

Blachowicz`s previous fight saw him in a close split decision loss against Alex Pereira in Pereira`s light heavyweight debut.

Ulberg, known for his unique lifestyle outside of the octagon and his exciting seven-fight win streak, has become a fan favorite.

Ulberg Edges Out Blachowicz in a Close Decision

The first round between the light heavyweights was cautious, with both fighters respecting each other`s power.

The second round followed a similar pattern, with Ulberg trying to utilize his kickboxing skills, while Blachowicz landed some strong counter strikes.

Ulberg began to control the fight`s tempo, landing leg kicks on the veteran Blachowicz.

Despite this, neither fighter could secure a finish in the second round, leading to the final round.

Both fighters needed to make a statement in the third round, but the initial minutes resembled the previous rounds.

Blachowicz attempted to increase pressure in the latter half of the round but was met with counter punches when closing the distance.

After a relatively uneventful 15 minutes, the fight concluded with both fighters facing off aggressively. The judges` decision was required, and Ulberg was awarded a 29-28 victory, marking his eighth straight win.

Ulberg Calls for Title Shot Against Ankalaev

Following his most significant victory, Ulberg requested a title fight against Magomed Ankalaev, who recently defeated Alex Pereira at UFC 313.

“With the longest win streak in the light heavyweight division, a title shot is the only logical next step,” Ulberg stated in his post-fight interview.

Ankalaev responded to Ulberg`s callout, suggesting that Pereira deserves a rematch and that it is likely to be his next fight.

“Good win for Carlos, but Alex is next. He deserves it more,” Ankalaev commented.

Joe Rogan mentioned that Pereira`s “uncharacteristic” performance in his UFC 313 fight might be attributed to a broken hand and norovirus, providing context to his performance.
