Authorities have classified the event as an accident, stating it was not an intentional act. The collision resulted in minor injuries for at least eight individuals.

Inside the stadium, supporters who learned of the incident attempted to alert officials. Some fans called out to Espanyol`s goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, to draw the referee`s attention, and a few even moved towards the pitch area. This led to a brief pause in the game, although those fans were later escorted out by security.

Local police and stadium authorities issued statements to assure those inside the venue that there was no danger.
