Bayern Munich is set to welcome Inter Milan for their Champions League quarter-final first leg match on Tuesday. Despite their strong performance in the Bundesliga, Bayern is currently dealing with a significant number of injuries. Jamal Musiala is the latest player to be sidelined, suffering a muscle injury in the Augsburg game, which will keep him out for both legs against Inter.
Musiala joins other key Bayern players on the injury list, including Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, and Manuel Neuer.
When questioned about the team`s condition, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany acknowledged the difficult situation. “We are facing a tough period, but this is the Champions League, and we must focus on the future,” Kompany stated. “The available players are ready to give their all. Those selected to play have consistently performed well in training and are prepared to contribute. I trust these players. I prefer to remain positive and maintain our objectives and strategies. The players who will play are fully fit and have my complete confidence.”
Bayern Munich & Inter Milan Starting Lineups
Bayern Munich XI: Jonas Urbig; Konrad Laimer, Kim Min-Jae, Eric Dier, Josip Stanišić; Joshua Kimmich, Leon Goretzka; Michael Olise, Raphaël Guerreiro, Leroy Sane; Harry Kane.
Inter Milan XI: Yann Sommer; Benjamin Pavard, Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni; Matteo Darmian, Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrix Mkhitaryan, Carlos Augusto; Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram.
Adding to Bayern`s challenges, Thomas Muller has recently announced his departure from the club at the end of this season. Kompany commented on the situation, “Our immediate focus is the Inter match, and Muller`s decision should be respected. His legendary career deserves admiration, and while it`s a significant matter, my priority is preparing the team for our upcoming game.”
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi also addressed player availability in his pre-match press conference, specifically regarding Hakan Calhanoglu and Federico Dimarco. “Bastoni and Calhanoglu have trained with the team, and we will assess their fitness. Dimarco trained separately. Lautaro Martinez, who was initially planned to play only the first half against Parma, played for 70 minutes. He is fit and expected to play against Bayern.”
