Could wedding bells soon be chiming for another prominent tennis duo?
Although they haven`t yet followed in the footsteps of recently married couples like Madison Keys and Bjorn Fratangelo, or the newly engaged Katie Boulter and Alex de Minaur, Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas were playfully evasive when questioned about their relationship status at the Laureus World Sports Awards red carpet event on Monday.
Appearing in striking matching white Pedro del Hierro outfits – which they humorously described as “a Greek color” – the couple conceded that their attire wouldn`t look out of place at a future wedding ceremony.
Badosa commented on their clothing, suggesting, “Maybe it`s a sign.” Tsitsipas added that they`ve already discussed potential picturesque locations for their envisioned “Greek wedding.”
However, a final decision on the location is still pending.
“We’re still trying to figure it out,” Tsitsipas stated.
Badosa responded, “We’re debating, like Spain, Greece, Spain, Greece. But Greece has my heart.”
Beyond the high-profile couple, other top tennis players also attended the event, which took place in Madrid just before the commencement of the combined ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 Mutua Madrid Open.
Carlos Alcaraz was nominated for World Sportsman of the Year, an award presented by Novak Djokovic. Rafael Nadal was recognized with the Laureus Sporting Icon Award. Additional attendees included Belinda Bencic, Caroline Garcia, Laureus ambassador Garbiñe Muguruza, and Donna Vekic.
The presence of numerous renowned figures, such as Simone Biles, Rebecca Andrade, and Lindsey Vonn, left Tsitsipas feeling quite starstruck.
`Paula and I haven`t attended a gala before – it`s a new experience for us,` Tsitsipas remarked. `Her dress and my outfit… created an incredible transformation. Tonight genuinely feels like a scene from a Hollywood movie.`
