Argentina Submits List of 15,000 Violent Fans Barred from U.S. Club World Cup

Argentina`s Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, has provided the U.S. Embassy in Buenos Aires with a list containing the names of more than 15,000 football fans known for violent behavior. These individuals will be prohibited from attending the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, scheduled to take place in the United States this summer.

Minister Bullrich stated, “The list includes more than 15,000 people who will be banned from stadiums. For us, this is extremely important because no violent person who has committed any crime in Argentine stadiums will be able to attend this sporting event.”

The compilation of names was made possible through the `Tribuna Segura` (Safe Stand) program. This initiative is designed to identify and prevent individuals with a history of violence from entering football stadiums in Argentina.

Since the current government assumed office in 2023, the `Tribuna Segura` program has significantly expanded its monitoring efforts. Bullrich highlighted the program`s reach: “Since the beginning of this government, `Tribuna Segura` has monitored more than four million people in 1,328 matches. We have detected 1,166 people with arrest warrants and have issued more than 40 administrative resolutions restricting entry to stadiums.”

The FIFA Club World Cup will be held in the U.S. from June 14 to July 13. Two prominent Argentine clubs are set to participate: Boca Juniors and River Plate. Boca Juniors has been drawn into Group C, where they will face Germany`s Bayern Munich, Portugal`s Benfica, and New Zealand`s Auckland City in the group stage. River Plate is placed in Group F and will compete against Italy`s Inter Milan, Mexico`s Monterrey, and Japan`s Urawa Red Diamonds.
